  1. I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how difficult this morning must have been for you. My heart goes out to you and I am sending you big hugs across the miles, friend. Run free, sweet Ollie. You’ll be in most excellent company once you cross the bridge.

  2. Such a lovely tribute to a great dog. They really do leave paw prints on our hearts. The older I get, the more I realize how blessed I am to have lived a life in the company of dogs. But, even more, how very blessed some dogs are to find homes with people who feel that way that we do about them. Too many people go about daily life never knowing the joy…which the sorrow can never erase.

  3. Helen, your post was the first I saw…intake of breath and a lump in my throat. Your tribute helped me tp know you both a little better. What a peaceful passing for him and such a sorrow laden one for you. He so obviously added to who you have become and you so obviously lavished him with love. My thoughts will follow you through these days ahead.

  4. Sweet Ollie, we celebrate your life and your goodness. Helen, I have such tears but they are a complicated combination of empathy with this loss, happiness at the descriptions of Ollie being himself, and the poignancy of his final time. We should all of us die in our beds so loved.

  5. What a beautiful tribute to Ollie. It brought tears to my eyes, he sounds like such a sweet boy.
My thoughts are with you at this time I am sending you hugs across the miles.

  6. Helen,

I’m so sorry! I loved hearing about him over the years and all his pictures. So many stories about him and Baby. I’m glad I was able to share in his life though miles away through the computer. I’m glad he had a peaceful passing. He’ll be dearly missed. I have a couple of his birthday pictures on my computer one with a yellow birthday hat and a yellow bowling pin in his mouth “OliVern’s birthday hat”, the other he’s talking to the camera with a couple Aussie friends in the background. Rest in peace dear Ollie and say Hi to Baby for me too!

    Love Debbie

  7. What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful dog! How fortunate Oliver was to find you and what a grand life you gave him. Thank you for sharing his story.

  8. I’m so sorry Helen. My heart goes out to you. What a wonderful boy Ollie was.I can only hope that at least one of my beloved dogs or cats will go peacefully in their sleep at home, where they belong and I long them to be when it happens.
